On May 16, 2005, the Ontario Legislative Assembly passed Bill 3, a private member’s bill sponsored by Dave Levac, Liberal Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP). The law affects all publicly funded Ontario school boards and schools and is the first of its kind in Canada. The law came into force on January 1, 2006.
